Our Story
Rooted in real food. Built for our community.
Tarrytown Local is dedicated to cultivating personal, planetary, and community health through great ingredients. Our menu changes daily based on seasonal availability from Hudson Valley farmers.
If it doesn't taste seriously good, the values behind it don't matter. Flavor is the ultimate measure of our integrity.
Whole ingredients, no or minimal processing. Focus on agricultural methods that focus on nutritional density.
Making it as easy as possible for you to eat well. Grocery shopping can be overwhelming, and cooking is hard!
Communicating with our customers about everything. We tell you where your food came from. You deserve to know.
Honesty in every harvest.
Composting, scrap utilization, and reusables… we practice what we preach in every single corner of our kitchen.
Hudson Valley and regional producers almost exclusively. If it travels far, there is a good reason for it. We believe the shorter the distance, the better the flavor.
Vetting all producers to ensure regenerative agriculture, soil health, humane animal husbandry, fair labor. We only partner with those who respect the earth and its workers.
Working to create better markets for our local farmers. We purchase directly from producers in a way that is mutually beneficial and responds to their seasonal needs.
Tarrytown Local is a neighborhood restaurant and small grocery store focused on local, healthful food. We serve breakfast and lunch in our dining room and sell the same ingredients in the grocery that we use in our kitchen. We mill flour in house and bake bread fresh every day. We try to make it easier (and more enjoyable) to eat well.
Both! You can sit and eat, grab something to go, or stock up for the week.
We're obsessive about sourcing, ingredient quality, and agricultural practices. We work directly with farmers and producers, prioritize local and regenerative food systems, and design everything—from menus to shelves—to support better eating without being preachy.
In a way, but probably not like other "health food" places. The food is nourishing and nutrient dense, but that makes it even more delicious, comforting, and grounded.
That term means very little to us. In a way, all restaurants are farm-to-table. We are 100% seasonally oriented and purchase directly from local farmers.
Every day. We don't just cook with the seasons, we cook with whatever is best on a given day. The kitchen staff get bored easily so we keep them on their toes.
Almost everything, and always intentionally chosen. When something isn't local (like coffee or certain spices), it's because there's no local option that meets our standards—and we're transparent about that and ensure it's sourced from producers who care.
Much of it is, but not all of it is certified organic. We focus on sourcing from farmers who use responsible, transparent growing practices and produce food we feel good feeding ourselves and our families.
Fresh stone-milled grain retains a whole lot more flavor, nutrition, and character than shelf-stable industrial flour. It's better for you and tastes better. Learn more on our Bakery page.
